Hopefully you don't have any exhaust leakage, the pipes are wrapped so you could have a small hole you've missed during inspection and the exhaust has acid properties than really shorten life of lead pipe, give it a good shake with you hand when cool and make sure its all still strong and complete. Backpressure of this magnitude would prevent motor from starting so we'll eliminate that. Do you notice it more on down wind runs? maybe its just the fumes blowing over the transom into the hatch? I use a clamp on 12 volt cabin fan and clamp it on the side of the hatch to circulate air in the cabin after a down wind motor. One way or the other your going to have to get better circulation going, if you can smell it then its warning you.
