Draining Oil

There is no filter.

The oil drain plug at the flywheel end is the high end and you probably can't get much out there if the engine is mounted at much of an angle. Mine is blocked by the engine mount rails so I am not sure just how much.

You can add, or probably remove oil at the low end by removing the top of the transmission housing but contrary to another answer here you probably will not need a new gasket. The cover is above oil lever and unpressurized.

You may have tried to use the dipstick hole. The dipstick is very short and you may not be able to get your pickup tube in very deep there.

My early model engine has a built in hand pump in the oil drain hole on the port side below the carb. I can get about a gallon out there.
