I'd drill & tap into the manifold just above the carb throat.
But first call Don Moyer and see what a "normal" reading might be.
Remember there is a vac "leak" that scavenges the carb bowl through a thin copper line too.
At just 6.5:1 compression and that scavenger tube, you may need a Low Range Vac guage??
