I am not sure when Universal changed to the newer style carburator. If yours has a cast iron body it is a old style. Note that if you replace the old style carburator with a new one you will also have to replace the flame arrestor or get an adapter (from Moyer Marine). The old one will not fit a new carb. I was told that gaskets and rebuild kits were no longer available for the old style, so I bought a new one, found a flame arrestor and am happy enough but have since found that gaskets, etc. are available for the old style (check Moyer Marine, etc.). In retrospect, I wish I had rebuilt the old carburator and you may want to do the same. If you really need or want an old style unit that you can rebuild, I have one.
